Kai Tak Vs St Georges, Mission Rd
St Georges 233 / 7
Kai Tak 147.
Another revamped side took on lowly
St.Georges at Mission Road on Saturday 2nd December.
Another half decent performance would see
us continuing our climb up the league ladder seeing as St.Georges had
only won one game this season.
As happens pretty much every league season
we let ourselves down with availability and lack of continuity.
We lost the toss and from that point it
was all downhill. The Tak could only muster 10 men for the day which
is a gift of 20 or more runs from the outset, especially in 35 over
cricket.
Our bowling lacked penetration and along
with about 30 wides St.Georges made hay getting away with the most
absurd shots ever seen on a cricket field with drop catches putting
the icing on the cake. The pick of the bowling was Belcastro picking
up 3 wickets as well as Rick Symington steadily improving throughout
the day to pick up 2 wickets.
St.Georges ended up on a respectable total
of 233 for 8.
Bowling figures:
Belcastro: 10 overs 3 wkts for 49 runs
Gordon: 3 overs 0 wkts for 23 runs
Patidar: 5 overs 0 wkts for 32 runs
Symington: 6 overs 2 wkts for 14 runs
Ward: 6 overs 1 wkt for 32 runs
Hawke: 7 overs 1 wkt for 46 runs
Before you all get excited and wonder why
Symington wasn't bowled more, no wides were attributed to him by the
opposition scorers and he did bowl a few, nevertheless his second
spell was very good.
The target was not that imposing, it was
Mission Road and to be honest the opposition bowling was very average
so a good start with the bat should see us on our way.
St.Georges only needed to get 9 wickets to
win and we decided to help them along by gifting 5 catches, 1 stumping
and and 3 bowled. Very irresponsible batting cost us dearly and there
is not much more to say. Kai Tak were absolutely thumped being bowled
out( not even claiming a batting point) for 147 runs and therefore
losing the game by 86 runs.
It happens and we move on. We cannot
afford any more soft losses, league standing is what counts and we are
not helping ourselves by these careless losses. 210 all out chasing
233, I can live with that, 147 all out.........not good!!!!
Anyway let's lift it for the next game, HK
Under 19's again at Mission Road on Saturday 9th December. Team list
will be out tomorrow as I'm off to London in the evening.
Best Regards,
Tiku
