Saracens 89   Dirk Grobler 4-5-13, D.Belcastro 3-2-17, C.Williams 7-2-31

Kai Tak  0-95 (10 overs!!) D.Belcastro 50n.o, A.Fitzhardinge 35 n.o

WOW!!!

A fantastic Kai Tak effort. It would not be overstating by saying that it was a perfect fielding and bowling effort followed by one of our best opening stands ever!!

Sent into the field Chris Williams started with a great line and length and leaving me with no doubt he did not want to be taken off, 7 overs straight, well done!!! Fidel was obviously thinking of his up coming batting effort but as usual troubling the batsmen with his in swingers, or is that reverse swing or reverse outswingers???? Mohsin and Nick came on as the first changers and tied up the batsmen with some tight bowling. The chirping in the field was great and finally we learnt how to direct it at the opposition!!!! Credit to new boy Alton Carmine who stopped absolutely everything that came his way!! Nicky Boje taking 2 very sharp chances in the slips, firming his chances of not winning the teflon award!! Then came the Grobelator!!!!! Now we all know how those loopy, painfully slow deliveries can be wicket takers but hey, these guys had no idea!!! Dirk throwing them up to the batters saying, "come on then, have a go!" Even ex Kai Takker Darren Farr was bamboozled. In only 4 overs, Dirk got the first Michelle Fiefer for the season and for only 13 runs!!!! Again the catching was spot on, only Andy Bester almost making a meal of one, but thankfully with smile on his face, he caught it 2nd time round!! Mal Brown reliving his youth with a lightning fast stumping, claiming nothing gets past him!!!! With the wickets tumbling, i had to quickly turn to another maiden Kai Takker in Domonic Dunn. Now not knowing what he was like, i was quite surprised to see him take his mark half way to the boundary...hhhmmmm, this will be interesting!! Anyway, in he came and bowled like he'd been playing all season. A very good line and length which was finally rewarded on his 4th ball with a clean bowling of their No 11, all over by the 23rd over!!!

I  was not going to take any chances with that score though, it was a must win and 89 runs could be dangerous with any complacancy!!! Fidel with his, "i have to leave early for band practise" story got his chance to open the bat with Fitzy. To cut a short story even shorter, 95 runs off 10 overs!!! Fitzy did try his best to go out but in the end he and Fidel won the Mug awards for hogging the batting!!!! Game over by 4pm!!!

Quite simply we did exactly what we should have done to this team, but non the less, a fantastic effort all round and with two new signings a great day for the TAK!!!

So, then the "little" drinks session afterwards turned into a little bit more. Apparantly behind my back and with me having no idea, a surprise party was thrown. I cauld have saved some money at Stauntons if i had known but anyway, i didnt realise i had so many friends!!! We partied on well into the night and i have to thank my lovely wife for organising it and thanks to all those who turned up!!!

Man of the Match: Dirk Grobler

Mugs of the Day: Fitzy and Fidel for hogging the batting!!!

Go the TAK!!!
